John Moulden
joined The Walsh Group in 2006, and currently holds the position
of Senior Advisor. Mr. Moulden’s work focuses on
impaired driving research and initiatives, utilizing his 34
years of professional experience in the field.
Mr. Moulden
brings to The Walsh Group experience with both the public and
private sectors in the fields of highway safety and safety in
the other transportation modes. He has served as Special
Assistant to the Chairman and Transportation Safety Specialist
at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), as a
Research Psychologist at the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA), as Principal Staff member to President
Reagan’s Presidential Commission On Drunk Driving, and,
recently, as the President of the National Commission Against
Drunk Driving (NCADD). Mr. Moulden is also the President
of Transportation Safety Associates; a consulting firm
specialized in the areas of highway safety research and
evaluation, policy development and analysis, training, and
legislative advocacy. He is frequently quoted by the media
as a highway safety expert, and has appeared, frequently, in the
national and local media, including, The NBC Today Show, ABC
Good Morning America, CNN, NBC Nightly News, USA Today, the Wall
Street Journal, the NY Times, Washington Post, and national
radio syndicates.
Mr. Moulden
served on the National Board of Directors for Mothers Against
Drunk Driving, and was elected as the organization’s first
Vice President for Public Policy. He is also a recipient of
MADD’s National Hero Award and the MADD-South Carolina Hero
Award. He is co-founder and past-Chairman of the Washington
Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP), a nationally recognized
coalition of business leaders, local governments and citizens
fighting drunk driving and underage drinking. He was
selected from federal employees, nationwide, to receive the 1984
GEICO National Public Service Award. He has received
numerous awards during his federal service including, NTSB
Chairman’s Special Service Award, and NHTSA Administrator’s
Award.
Mr. Moulden holds a Master
of Science degree in Experimental Psychology from Pennsylvania
State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Experimental
Psychology from Johns Hopkins University.
